Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the economic performance of Timor-Leste since 1999, and to assess its macroeconomic outlook for the next few years. This requires a brief survey of economic development, presented in Section Two, followed by a discussion of economic challenges and policy options in Section Three. The final sections, Four and Five, present the likely influence of external events and conclusion.
