Abstract: This work explores the world of magazines and newspapers published by the immigrant colonies in Brazil, between 1850-1870 and the 1930s, using as its main source the magazine Lusitania, published by the Portuguese colony in Rio de Janeiro between 1929 and 1934. It attempts a historical analysis of the immigrant press in Brazil, from the end of the Empire through the First Republic, highlighting the differences and similarities between publications produced by the Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, German and Arab immigrants in Brazil.
